About us

The African Society Foundation, Inc. (ASOFI), a proud 501(c)3 non-profit public charity, champions a world of inclusivity, diversity, and change.

ASOFI was founded in the the Summer of 2019 with a mission to deepen the global appreciation and understanding of Africans and individuals of African Ancestry through vibrant programs that highlight and celebrate our rich history, dynamic culture, and strides in economic empowerment within the Global Village. Later that year, our startup organization encountered its first significant challenge when the world started grappling with the initial cases of an unknown health crisis, which eventually escalated into the COVID-19 pandemic. Faced with impending shutdowns and quarantine measures, we were at a crossroads: either shut down our operations or pivot our mission to become part of the solution.

Drawing inspiration from the profound words of Dr. Martin Luther King, we embraced a renewed and urgent purpose. Our mission today transcends boundaries, aiming to deepen global appreciation and understanding of people from all walks of life, particularly those of African and African Ancestry heritage. We celebrate the mosaic of cultures, histories, and economic advancements within the global community.

Our programs are designed to:

  • Champion Environmental Stewardship: Through our Environmental Conservation Programs, we not only protect our natural legacy but also promote sustainable practices that honor diverse ways of interacting with our planet.
  • Promote Inclusive Education and Economic Growth: Our Education and Economic Literacy Programs are dedicated to creating opportunities for all, ensuring that every voice has the chance to contribute to and benefit from shared prosperity and knowledge.
  • Honor and Empower Elders from All Communities: Recognizing the wisdom and value of senior citizens from varied backgrounds, we are committed to ensuring they receive the respect, care, and opportunities they richly deserve.
  • Cultivate Holistic Health and Nutrition: We understand that the well-being of communities is fundamental to progress. Our efforts in elevating health and nutrition standards are inclusive, ensuring access and sensitivity to diverse dietary needs and health considerations.

Collaborating with an array of religious and community groups, ASOFI is at the forefront of transforming narratives from passivity and poverty to resilience, empowerment, and mutual respect. We are steadfast in our commitment to building sustainable communities that recognize and celebrate diversity in every form.

Through initiatives like ASOFI mission trips, inclusive senior sponsorship programs, and dynamic fundraising efforts, we endeavor to provide comprehensive care and essential resources. Our focus encompasses providing shelter, culturally appropriate and nutritious food, clean water, clothing, healthcare, and education to children and senior citizens across Africa and its Diaspora.
